UPSC CSAT Full-Length Mock 2

Original bilingual UPSC CSAT full-length practice: 80 questions, 200 marks and 120 minutes, with worked English and Hindi explanations after submission. Independently authored practice, not an official UPSC or previous-year paper. Topic allocation and difficulty labels are editorial. A score of 66/200 corresponds to the official 33% Paper II qualifying standard; passing this practice test does not confer any official qualification.

Before you start

  • One timer for the whole test: 2 hours.
  • The clock runs from the moment you start, even if you leave.
  • Right answer +2.5; a wrong answer costs 1/3 of the question's marks. Unanswered questions cost nothing.
  • Questions come in Hindi and English. Switch any question with “Language”; questions in English only cannot switch.
  • Only saved answers count. “Save & Next” saves the answer on screen, and so does “Mark for Review & Next”: a flagged answer still counts.
  • At zero the test submits itself.
  • Pass mark: 66.

Answer up to 80 single-correct-answer questions in 120 minutes. The clock runs continuously. Each correct answer earns 2.5 marks. Each incorrect answer loses exactly one-third of the assigned marks (2.5/3). Unanswered questions score zero. Select one option A–D for each question answered. Review selections before submitting. Correctness and worked explanations appear only after submission, not during this exam-mode attempt. All questions, passages, choices and explanations are available in English and Hindi. Answer comprehension questions from the passage rather than outside knowledge. For data-sufficiency questions, apply the options supplied with that question; a definite no is sufficient for a yes/no question. The practice qualifying score is 66/200 (33%). This is original practice, not an official examination.

Sample questions with solutions

A few questions like the ones in this test, with the right answer and why.

  1. Question 1
A price increases by 30% and then decreases by 20%. What is the net change?
    • 10% increase
    • 4% increaseRight answer
    • 4% decrease
    • No change
    Explanation

Use multipliers: 1.30 × 0.80 = 1.04, so the final price is 104% of the original. The second percentage uses the increased base.

  2. Question 2
    A:B = 5:8 and B exceeds A by 72. What is A?
    • 45
    • 120Right answer
    • 192
    • 360
    Explanation

    The difference of 3 ratio parts equals 72, so one part is 24. A = 5 × 24 = 120.

  3. Question 3
A group of 12 scores averages 40. One score of 22 is replaced by 46. What is the new average?
    • 42Right answer
    • 44
    • 46
    • 48
    Explanation

    The total increases by 46 − 22 = 24. Dividing by 12 increases the average by 2, from 40 to 42.

  4. Question 4
Twenty learners average 55 and thirty learners average 70. What is their combined average?
    • 60
    • 62.5
    • 64Right answer
    • 65
    Explanation

    Weighted mean = (20 × 55 + 30 × 70)/50 = 3200/50 = 64. A simple mean of group averages would ignore different group sizes.

  5. Question 5
A completes a job in 15 days and B in 10 days. At constant independent rates, how long do they take together?
    • 5 days
    • 6 daysRight answer
    • 12.5 days
    • 25 days
    Explanation

Their rate is 1/15 + 1/10 = 1/6 of the job per day. Completion time is therefore 6 days.
